Dana Shavin is originally from Atlanta, Georgia but has lived in the Chattanooga area since 1986. She has a master’s degree in clinical psychology and is a certified professional life coach. She has been a columnist for the Chattanooga Times Free Press since 2002, and is the editor of the Chattanooga Jewish Federation newspaper, The Shofar. Her essays have appeared in Oxford American, The Sun, The Writer, Alaska Quarterly Review, Fourth Genre, Third Coast, Hawaii Pacific Review, Willow Review, Palo Alto Review, Gravy, and numerous alternative arts and entertainment magazines. Her first memoir, The Body Tourist, is forthcoming from Little Feather Books in October.
